Planning coverage

Each camera has a job: identifying people at a door, watching a parking area, or recording activity in a hallway. We choose locations after checking distance, angle, night lighting, glare, and mounting surfaces.

  • Entrances, gates, and exits
  • Parking lots, garages, and driveways
  • Lobbies, hallways, mail rooms, and laundry rooms
  • Sales floors, stockrooms, and loading areas
  • Perimeters, side yards, and back entrances

Cameras, recording, and cabling

New systems typically use network (IP) cameras on Ethernet cable, which carries both video and power. Video records to a network video recorder (NVR) or another platform chosen for the project.

  • Turret, dome, and bullet cameras for fixed views
  • Pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras for large open areas, when needed
  • Storage sized for how long you need to keep video
  • Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches and cabling

Remote viewing and user access

Compatible systems can be viewed from a phone, tablet, or computer. We set up accounts for owners, managers, or staff, limit access by user where the system allows, and show each person how to find and export video.

Upgrading an older system

Analog cameras on coaxial cable and failing recorders are common. Some upgrades can reuse existing cable; others need new runs. We check the installation and explain the options first.

  • Replace failed or low-resolution cameras
  • Replace an aging DVR or NVR
  • Add cameras to cover blind spots
  • Move from analog to network cameras

Troubleshooting and repair

Cameras that go offline, show no picture at night, or stop recording usually trace back to power, cabling, the network, or the recorder.

When you call, tell us which cameras are affected, when it started, and any errors the recorder shows.

Questions

Common questions

How many cameras do I need?

It depends on the property and what each area needs to show. We recommend a count and locations after seeing the site, not from a fixed package.

Can you reuse my existing camera wiring?

Sometimes. Coaxial and older network cable can be reused in some cases, depending on its condition and the new equipment. We test it before recommending reuse.

How long is video stored?

That depends on the number of cameras, resolution, recording settings, and recorder capacity. We size storage for the retention period you need.
